New but out of production screws to suit the FORD GPW only. There are enough screws for the following locations, as factory fitted to GPW's I believe from some time in the second contract of GPW production (mid/late 1942) to the end of production based on unrestored vehicles I've seen. I will include enough to do all 3 locations, but as some factory/crated jeep photos show (1 of the uncrated Rockhampton GPW's- photos TAKEN in August 1943), they may not have been used in all the following spots earlier on in GPW production. 5x Master Cylinder inspection/cover plate 3x Drivers seat rear fuel sump shield 10x transmission cover plate PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING INFO and see the photo of these fasteners with original screws and fitted in position (NB- there isnt meant to be a screw in the top left of the trasnmission cover as it is meant for the fot rest, my apologies). I believe the screws for the above locations would carry the part number of. FM 335344. These screws are the very sought after recessed head type, WITH the flange, correct in appearance and HEAD/WRENCH SIZE for the above mentioned places on a GPW. Previously unavailable with the correct head size (7/16), I recently found a small quantity. I have looked around the world for the past 5 years with countless emails and phone calls to fastener producers until I stumbled on this last remaining stock a few weeks back. I have also tried countless jeep parts dealers with no luck for the CORRECT screw. As such, I have seen a lot of sellers offering other screws as correct for these applications, but they simply aren't, especially in external appearance. Others being offered have been incorrect with either no flange, no recessed head, no washer, or the biggest hang up (and why it took me so long to find the correct appearing ones), a lot are sold with a 3/8 wrench size, not the CORRECT 7/16 wrench size LIKE THE ORIGINALS AND LIKE THESE ONES HAVE. The screws are meant to be 5/8 long, but these are 3/4 and with light serrations under the head. I tried these in my 42 GPW with original body/chassis and they fitted at the current 3/4'" length, but would not be hard to cut down if desired. The external tooth washer is not inbuilt (Sems) like originals but this is not noticed when installed on the GPW. Given the rarity of these screws and difficulty to find them, I thought these few areas were very acceptable shortfalls in the hunt for the original appearance once fitted. I believe if you had access to a lathe, it would be short work to skim off the serrations (they are mild steel screws) and head markings. Once again. These ARE the most correct screws I have found on the market so far, short of finding original screws (and we all know how hard it is to find this screw as an original part!!). |
